Frequently Asked Questions

What are the requirements to use the range?

Users are required to be of legal age, complete a safety orientation, and sign a liability waiver. Background checks may also be necessary.

Do I need my own firearm?

Communicate with your firearm instructor in advance if you wish to rent a firearm or to purchase required ammunition. The ranges do not have firearms for rent. You are also welcome to bring your own firearm, provided it complies with range rules and local laws.

Can I receive firearms training at the range?

The range provides a variety of training classes, ranging from beginner safety courses to advanced tactical shooting.

What safety equipment is required?

Eye and ear protection are mandatory at all times. These are available at the range, or you can bring your own.

How do I book a lane at the range?

Azone Defense LLC is a firearms training company and not a gun range. If you wish to visit the gun range please contact them directly for their range hours and additional details.

What should I wear to the range?

It is required to wear closed-toe shoes and clothing that fits well to avoid catching ejected casings. Hats and high-necked shirts are advised to protect against hot casings.

Are there any special events or competitions held at the range?

The range hosts regular shooting competitions, leagues, and special events. Check the range’s calendar or ask at the front desk for details on upcoming events.

What are the payment options?

Azone Defense LLC accepts cash, credit, debit and Zelle payments. Actual range fees are cash only upon arrival.

What to bring to class

The items on your person or included inside your range bag should include most items:

1. Eye protection (prescription eye glasses are okay)
2. Hearing protection (preferably electronic)
3. Sturdy Belt
4. Close-toe footwear (no sandal-type shoes)
5. Brimmed cap/hat
6. Dress according to the weather (preferably long sleeve top w/ cargo type pants. No low-cut chestline exposed garments)
7. Sunscreen 
8. Insect repellent
9. Hydration (bottled water or electrolyte beverage)
10. Snacks (energy bar, trail-mix, etc.)
11. Gloves as appropriate (thin, form-fitting works best)
12. Cleaning cloth (micro-fiber is ideal)
13. Gun oil/solvent/bore snake
14. Small handheld flashlight with tail/end cap on/off pressure switch (500-1500 lumens is ideal)
15. Magazine ammo assist, mag loader, or speed loader
16. Small tool kit (usually Allen wrenches or small multi-tools to make adjustments to optics or quick fixes)
17. Dump pouch
18. Range bag, if applicable, gun case w/lock
19. First-aid kit built for gun trauma injuries (chest seal, Israeli bandage, tourniquet, bandages, band-aids)
20. Knife, sharp pocket-style knife
21. Colored Marker
22. Snap caps for your caliber
23. Chamber flags for each type of firearm
24. Outer cover garment for training in CCW-type classes
25. Note: No highly modified triggers on any firearm. All firearms must be in a safe working condition and have a trigger guard

Pistol Classes

1. Semi-Auto Handgun, preferably center-fired calibers such as;.380ACP, 9mm, .40cal, 45 ACP, 10mm (Rimfire .22LR is not ideal but okay).
2. No pocket micro pistols smaller than the Sig P238.  Preferably Sub-Compact, Compact, and Full-Size Handguns.
3. 2-3 Magazines (ideally, 2 standard capacity mags or 3 low capacity mags)
4. Magazine carrier, pouch, or holder
5. 150-300 rounds of range target ammunition (9mm 124 or 147 Grain bullets are ideal if needed to knock down steel targets)
6. Holster with retention made for your specific firearm to be used (IWB or OWB to be presented from the waistline. No cross-draws, bellyband, chest rigs, drop thigh rigs, purse, fanny pack, or ankle holsters). No index-finger release button type holsters.
7. Weapon-mounted lights are encouraged but optional (200-500 lumens are ideal, not to exceed 625 lumens)
8. Optics such as red/green dots are encouraged but optional (should be zeroed at 10 or ideally 15 yds before coming to class)
9. 2nd Back-up gun optional
10. Cased and unloaded upon arrival

Carbine Rifle Classes

1. MSR’s such as AR-15 style rifles in 5.56/.223.  Pistol Caliber Carbines are okay
2. 2 magazines
3. Magazine carrier/holder
4. 150-200 rounds of ammunition. No steel core bullets allowed on the range!
5. Sling; 2-point, single-point, Multi-point, or shouldered slings are okay.
6. Rifles should be pre-sighted (Zeroed) at 25, 35, or ideally 50 yards before class.
7. Rifles should have iron sights at a minimum. However, MSR Dot, Dot w/Magnifier, or LVPOs are all highly recommended options.
8. Cased and unloaded upon arrival

Defensive Shotgun Classes

1. 410 GA, 20GA, or 12GA Shotgun Ideally less than 20” barrel length
2. Auto-loading shotguns are ideal, but pump actions are okay. (No double-barreled, side-by-side, over-under type hunting style shotguns)
3. Shell carrier
4. 75 rounds of birdshot, 20 rounds of buckshot. 5 slugs (however, 100 rounds of #7, 7 1/2, or 8-size birdshot are okay). Lead shot only!
5. Shoulder Slings are ideal but optional
6. Shoulder pad to absorb recoil is ideal
7. Front Hi-Viz front sight or Dot Optic for shotgun use is highly recommended. Standard Bead posts are okay
8. Cased and unloaded upon arrival
